Nature knows balance

This weekend, I was fortunate to spend a couple of days relaxing at a beautiful cottage at Wagait Beach. Sitting quietly, surrounded by a wild, untamed garden just metres from the ocean, I was reminded of something we often forget in the busyness of everyday life.

I noticed the incredible shapes, textures, and colours that nature creates without effort. Nothing rushed. Nothing forced. Just everything balanced in its own way.

As I looked out over the garden, I was reminded of a conversation with a client. She once told me that when she’s gardening, she thinks about her own life. When she’s pulling out weeds, she imagines “weeding out” the things that no longer serve her — the habits, expectations, and pressures that drain her energy. And when she’s pruning, watering, and fertilising, she reflects on doing the same for the things she loves — the parts of her life that nourish her and help her feel more like herself.

That image stayed with me.

So many women I work with feel tired, overwhelmed, and disconnected from their bodies. They often believe they need to push harder or do more to feel better. But just like a garden, our bodies don’t thrive when they’re forced. They thrive when they’re supported, given space, and cared for consistently.

Nature doesn’t rush growth.
It doesn’t criticise slow progress.
It responds to the right conditions.

When life is full of work, family, responsibility, constant demands, our bodies stay in survival mode. Over time, this shows up as poor sleep, pain, anxiety, fatigue, and the feeling that something just isn’t right, even when you’re told everything looks “normal.”

Healing often begins not with another plan or protocol, but with awareness. Gently noticing what needs to be let go of — and what needs more care.

You don’t need a weekend away or a garden by the beach to start this process. Small moments matter. A walk outside. A pause to breathe. Choosing one thing that supports you, instead of pushing yourself through another day.

If you’ve been feeling out of sync with your body or your life, it may not be asking you to try harder. It may be asking you to listen more closely — and to care for yourself with the same patience you would give something you want to grow.

Your body, like nature, knows how to find its balance when it’s given the right support.
